Hier also meine Variant.

  1. "I remember him as if it were yesterday, as he came plodding to the inn door, his sea chest following him in a hand-barrow; a tall, strong, heavy, nut-brown man; his tarry pigtail falling over the shoulders of his soiled blue coat; his hands ragged and scarred, with black, broken nails; and the sabre cut across one cheek, a dirty, livid white." *
  2. "One thing was certain, that the white kitten had had nothing to do with it: - it was the black kitten's fault entirely."
  3. "In the nighttime heart of Beirut, in one of a row of general-address transfer booths, Louis Wu flicked into reality."
  4. "Even in high summer, Tintagel was a haunted place; Igraine, Lady of Duke Gorlois, looked out over the sea from the headland."
  5. "Suzi crapped the Frankenstein cockroach into the toilet bowl, then pushed the chrome handle halfway down for a short flush."
  6. "When I was four months old, my mother died suddenly and my father was left to look after me all by himself."
  7. "Kennit walked the tideline, heedless of the salt waves that washed around his boots as it licked the sandy beach clean of his tracks."
  8. "Es war dunkel hier oben."
  9. "... is the best that Corporal Bobby Shaftoe can do on short notice—he's standing on the running board, gripping his Springfield with one hand and the rearview mirror with the other, so counting the syllables on his fingers is out of the question."
